I was called on the evening of 14th June last to see a patient who was said to be unable to drink water on account of pain in the side. The patient was about 20 years of age, in fair health, though somewhat thin, and was lying in bed on his face. His pulse was almost imperceptible and his limbs cold. On attempting to bring a light near him he was terrified, and could not bear it. He shouted not to bring the light within his sight. On asking about his complaint he said he had pain in the diaphragm
